Community Meeting

Posted by Brown06 0 comments

Rep. Sherrod Brown will be holding a Community Meeting, I will probably be going to the one on Wednesday at LCCC. See you there!!!

In other news, Rep. Brown voted against
federal standards for driver's licenses , it appears the Bill also has some other provisions but I have not read up on that yet. I'm starting to read the addition to 9/11 Commission report that was released, I'll keep you updated on that.

That's it for now

Some thoughts I've had

Posted by Brown06 0 comments

Ah, so many issues so little time.... I've been wanting to comment on a few issues so here I go:

  1. Social Security, I personaly think it is to early to make any judgement on the Presidents proposal regarding Privatising/Personalizing (don't get me started on what to call it). Until the proposal is on paper I will not make comment, and neither should anybody else.
  2. 2006 Budget, the President has proposed to cut over 120 programs .... good or bad ? ... well I'll comment on that once I read the 13MB+ ZIP files full of PDFs that detail his proposal ... I don't see that happening before 2006
  3. Iraq, all I'm going to say on that right now is that things are looking up and if we hold our ground things will get better, but these things take time.
That's it for now ... more tomorrow

Sorry that I haven't been making daily posts, I've just been very busy. But frankly there hasn't been much of anything to report. I don't belive this will change till Rep. Brown announces if he will be running or not, I of course hope he will run.

Slow News Day

First of all sorry I didn't post anything yesterday, but I don't think there was anything new anyway.

I did find this interesting article today, describing Rep. Brown giving his floor pass for the State of the Union to a constituent. Bailey Herrington, a 71 year old retiree from Broadview Heights, described the State of the Union as "vitality about Washington."

State of the Union

"The President shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."

Article II, Sec. 3, U.S. Constitution

The President just finished delivering the State of the Union, by my count he was interrupted 62 times for applause.

Brown not that worried about Social Security

"We've never missed a payment for 70 years and we're not going to miss one for another 100 years," Brown said. "This is a concern, but it's not a crisis."
